WEAVERS of WILLAC Cultural Tour
From the Sacred Valley of the Incas we travel the non-paved road 19 kilometers up along a narrow canyon lined with ancient agricultural terraces to the Village of Willoc, , renown as home to the most skilled weavers of the region. ![]() Full day excursion to a native rural Quechua community located at 12,129 feet. Home to a group of families rich in cultural values. Most men earn their living as porters for the Inca Trek and are known as "Huayruros". Women also strong and resourceful are outstanding weavers known for producing the highest quality textiles in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This tour also originates from Urubamba. Lunch is included. Pricing: From USD 85 pp per person based on 2 people participating. Saturday is market day when two large trucks bring up vegetables and staples from the valley, the only day when there is a vehicle that comes to the villages as there is no buses in that area and the one lane gravel road gets very few vehicles. Their is very little outside influence in this area and llamas and alpacas roam free in the mountains. Great photo opportunities abound and the locals are pleased to have their pictures taken for a coin or two. If you want to see an area and people living as they have for generations in the Andes Mountains Willoc is an unforgettable experience. |
